Find answers to our most commonly asked questions.

We often receive a high volume of applications for the roles we advertise, so your patience is appreciated while we work through these. In the meantime, you should have received a confirmation email acknowledging your application. If you haven’t received this email, please be sure to check your spam folders or you can contact our recruitment team

Unsuccessful applicants are notified via email. If you attended an interview as part of your application, we can provide you with feedback; unfortunately, due to the high volume of responses we often receive for each role, we can’t provide all applicants with a personal response.

Format

Wherever possible, our interviews are conducted at one of our three office locations. Engaging in person gives you the opportunity to experience the people and environment at Grant Thornton New Zealand firsthand, however, if you can’t make it into the office, we also offer online interviews.

How to prepare

Naturally, you can expect questions about what you can bring to the role in terms of your experience and competencies. Also think about examples of your work or other professional achievements you’re particularly proud of. And note the interview process is an important opportunity for you to ascertain if Grant Thornton is the right fit for you too, so be sure to prepare questions about anything you’d like to know about us.

Assessments

We often test each candidate’s numerical, verbal and logical reasoning to help us match the right talent to the right roles. We will let you know if this is required so you can keep an eye out for the assessment link in your inbox.

Multiple interview rounds

Most roles involve more than one interview round, and the process for these varies depending on the role you’re applying for. This may include formal meetings and/or informal catch ups with partners and their team members; if you’re shortlisted for an interview, we will provide a clear outline of who you’re meeting with, the format for each discussion and what to prepare.

While high volumes of applications can cause delays in our recruitment timeline, we always aim to review applications as quickly as we can. However, if you haven’t heard back from us withing two weeks, do feel free to send us a follow up email
