On November 4, 2013, the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation announced that after a competitive tender process, conducted by the Foundation's Audit and Finance Committee and involving seven different firms, a decision was made to appoint Grant Thornton as their external auditor.

The appointment of Grant Thornton was approved by the Trustees at the October 2013 meeting held in Frankfurt.

Grant Thornton New Zealand National Technical Director, Mark Hucklesby, said this appointment bears testimony to Grant Thornton’s ability to audit high profile Not for Profit organisations that have an international reach.

“We look forward to working closely with the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation as they prepare annual reports and financial statements that explain fully what the International Accounting Standards Board has achieved each year,” he said.
