Richard's specialises in providing business recovery and advisory services to the mid-corporate market.  This work ranges from strategic review and turnaround management to investigations, receiverships and liquidations.

Richard works as an expert witness and as a fraud investigator. He also undertakes due diligence assignments for buyers and sellers of businesses, and he is a director of a number of companies.He also provides Audit Consulting Services to many key clients of the firm.

A partner in Grant Thornton since the firm's merger with Spicer & Oppenheim in 2000, Richard has been a partner since 1981. 

Richard established Spicer & Oppenheim's Wellington corporate recovery and insolvency division and was later appointed the national director for this service, a position he held for five years. He now holds this position for Grant Thornton New Zealand.

Outside interests

Richard is keen on sport, especially rugby and cricket. He is also interested in cinema and the theatre and has a strong interest in art.
