Matt joined the Grant Thornton Business Advisory team in 2010 having spent the previous 13 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers advising SME’s. Matt’s experience has been predominantly working with Kiwi entrepreneurs and privately owned businesses as well as not-for-profits, high net-worth individuals, Maori entities and NZ subsidiaries of Australian owned businesses. Matt’s advice has been spread across a wide range of industries and business size from start ups to multi-nationals including retail, construction, food and beverage, wholesale, distribution, professional services, hi-tech and IT.

Being of Te Rarawa and Whakatohea descent Matt has a strong passion for assisting Maori business which has seen him assist iwi and hapu and lead the Maori sector team in Auckland at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Matt is also an active member of the Auckland and National Maori Accountants Networks and the Treasurer for Volunteering Auckland Trust, a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting volunteering.
Prior to starting his CA career Matt spent nearly four years travelling throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and North Africa. He still hopes to continue his travels of the world, although with three sons, these days his travelling is contained to more local destinations. Matt loves diving and fishing and this feeds his culinary passion in the kitchen or on the bbq. Matt is an avid rugby follower, irregular golfer and great armchair critic of most other sports.
